    Installation instructions:

    1. With the old housing removed (hint the large hex bolt, AKA shifter detent must be removed to pull the old housing off). Check that the inside of the new tail housing is clean. Especially the shifter slides and bearing surfaces.

    2. Install bearings and shifter linear bearing (if applicable).

    3. Install idler shaft & gear.

    4. Lubricate the shifter slides and bearing surfaces with assembly lubricant.

    5. Before bolting the new housing on, apply a light bead of silicone and follow the silicone manufacturers instructions. We prefer Permatex® The Right Stuff®. Reinstall the tail housing and torque the bolts to 30 ft-lbs or 360 in-lbs. *Note: Some models may require clearancing of the two bottom bolts. Done by reducing the flange bolt diameter or clearance the housing.

    6. Install reverse light switch, shifter detent, exhaust hanger etc.

    7. Final assembly of transfer case, driveshaft and fill transmission with oil.
