MOPAR 53022298AA is a genuine OEM Engine Multiple Displacement System (MDS) Solenoid. It is designed for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles equipped with 5.7L or 6.4L HEMI V8 engines.
- What it does: The MDS solenoid controls the flow of oil to the engine valve lifters. It enables the engine to seamlessly transition between 8-cylinder mode (for full power) and 4-cylinder mode (to conserve fuel).
- Why it matters: A failing or clogged solenoid can cause the engine to misfire, run rough, or get stuck with the MDS system disabled or improperly engaged, leading to poor fuel economy and diminished performance.
