A cold air intake replaces your factory air filter and tubing to draw cooler, denser air from outside the hot engine bay. 

Relocates the filter: It moves the air intake point away from the hot engine block, often placing it near a fender well or behind the front grille.

Delivers denser air: Cold air is denser and contains more oxygen molecules than the warm air inside the engine compartment.

Improves airflow: Smooth, wider intake tubes and high-flow filters reduce the restrictions found in standard factory setups
More horsepower: A higher volume of oxygen-rich air helps burn fuel more efficiently, typically adding 5 to 15 horsepower.

Better sound: The larger filter and open tube create a louder, more aggressive growl or grumble when you press the gas pedal.

An oiled air filter is an engine air filter made of cotton gauze or foam coated with a special, tacky layer of oil designed to trap dirt while letting large amounts of air flow through. 

Open Material: The filter uses a loose, porous cotton or foam mesh that lets air pass easily.

Sticky Oil: A specialized filter oil coats the material.

Trapping Dirt: The oil acts like a magnet or glue, catching tiny dust and debris particles that try to pass through the wide pores
