GM Part number 12660709 is an Original Equipment (OE) multi-port Fuel Injector Rail used primarily on General Motors trucks, SUVs, and vans with 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L (Generation IV) V8 engines. It typically replaces older part numbers 12621566 and 12621668.
The fuel rail provides the rigid distribution pipeline that holds fuel at a set operating pressure so the injectors can spray precisely the right amount of fuel into the engine cylinders. It is typically replaced during major fuel system overhauls, if there is a pressure-inhibiting internal leak/corrosion, or during intake manifold swaps (such as upgrading to the "NNBS" intake).
