Description
GM part number 12639250 is a rear engine cover assembly (also known as a rear main seal housing) for General Motors LS-series V8 engines. It is used to seal the back of the engine block around the crankshaft to prevent oil leaks.
The GM 12639250 kit is a consolidated, factory-updated assembly designed to eliminate common issues with porosity and cracking found in earlier LS covers.
Component Type: Rear Crankshaft Seal Housing / Rear Engine Cover
Included Hardware: Pre-installed rear main seal, housing gasket, and mounting bolts
Alignment Tool: Includes a plastic alignment sleeve to center the cover perfectly concentric to the crankshaft before final torquing
This part fits virtually all factory production Generation III and IV GM LS engine blocks (excluding aftermarket LSX blocks). This includes:
