Description

GM part 12608835 is an Engine Oil Pressure Relief Valve (also known as an oil bypass valve). It is primarily used in Gen IV LS-based V8 engines (4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, and 6.2L) found in various GM trucks, SUVs, and performance vehicles.

Regulates Oil Pressure: The valve automatically opens when engine oil pressure exceeds a predetermined limit. This releases excess pressure to prevent damage to engine gaskets, seals, and the oil filter. 

Prevents Oil Starvation: It acts as a bypass route if the system gets clogged or experiences a pressure spike, ensuring the engine continues to receive essential lubrication
