The Mopar 05184112AF (often listed as 5184112AF) is a genuine OEM connecting rod bearing. It is an internal engine component used in various Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles equipped with 3.6L V6 (and some 3.2L V6) engines.
Connecting rod bearings sit between the connecting rod and the crankshaft inside the engine block. They provide a smooth, low-friction surface that allows the engine's pistons to rapidly pump up and down while smoothly transferring that linear force into the circular, rotating motion of the crankshaft.
If these bearings fail or wear out, you will typically hear a loud, rapid tapping or knocking noise (often called "rod knock") coming from the engine, which worsens when you accelerate. Continuing to drive with a failed rod bearing can permanently destroy your engine.
