Gen III HEMI roller lifters are critical components that transfer camshaft lobe movements to the pushrods. Upgrading or replacing these lifters is a common requirement for performance builds, especially when deleting the factory MDS (Multi-Displacement System), upgrading to aftermarket camshafts, or preventing valvetrain failure.

The Lifters: These hydraulic roller lifters maintain zero lash in the valve train, ensuring the valves open and close smoothly and quietly.
- The Yoke (Guide): Also known as a retainer or guide, it keeps the lifters perfectly aligned with the camshaft lobes so they do not twist in their bores.
The genuine OEM Mopar VVT/MDS hydraulic lifters for the 5.7L HEMI generally come in a set. The two primary, interchangeable OEM part numbers are 5038785AD (typically for the front) and 5038786AD (typically for the rear).
