Increase TQ & HP Throughout RPM Range with XFI™ AFM Cams for GM Gen V

Revolutionary GM Gen V Camshafts from COMP Cams® are designed to work with the direct injection, VVT (Variable Valve Timing) and AFM (Active Fuel Management) lifters featured in GM’s Gen V (LT1/L83/L86) V8 engine. This means that these XFI™ series hydraulic roller cams allow users to leverage the OE technology for performance gains. Gen V Cams feature four different lobe profiles to both create AFM compatibility and optimize intake and exhaust valve opening/closing events. COMP Cams® GM Gen V Camshafts increase torque and horsepower throughout the entire RPM range, while providing excellent responsiveness and mid-range power over stock for across-the-board gains.

These cams must have the COMP® Phaser Limiter Kit (Part #5456), which limits the range of camshaft movement from 62 to 22 crank degrees thus requiring PCM tuning. COMP Cams® GM Gen V Camshafts are available for stock to highly modified applications.

Common Usage: Mild street performance to mild race

Key Benefits: Modern, aggressive roller profiles, reduced friction, low maintenance, reduced valve train noise, more power than conventional hydraulic flat tappet camshafts

Limitations: Increased cost, limited rpm range

Frequently used in today’s OEM factory engines and mild to moderately aggressive performance engines, hydraulic roller cams use lifters equipped with a roller wheel that tracks along the camshaft lobe, reducing wear and friction, and enabling faster lobe ramp rates than flat tappet cams. These quiet operation lifters feature the same internal design as hydraulic flat tappet lifters with internal cavities and pistons but do not rotate within the lifter bore. Suited for typical street or moderate race engine speeds, the lifters are pre-loaded and do not require a lash setting. Most OEM hydraulic roller camshafts are limited to 6200 rpm and performance aftermarket systems to approximately 6800 rpm. Hydraulic roller lifters require an appropriately selected valve spring to maintain control and avoid lifter float at higher engine rpm. Hydraulic roller lifters can be re-used with multiple camshafts, however they are more costly than any form of flat tappet lifters.

Features:

For more than 35 years, the COMP Cams® mission has never changed: to produce the highest-performing products possible, provide customers with superior service, and to lead the industry in technological development. While the COMP Performance Group™ has grown to multiple companies and hundreds of employees, we still retain the competitive spirit and desire to be the very best that has positioned COMP Cams® as the absolute leader in valve train components.

Performance

COMP Cams® has never forgotten that performance is defined by results –both at the track and on the street. We spend thousands of hours working with individuals, teams and companies to ensure that our products provide superior performance and reliability. Whether we’re working with a Pro Stock or Sprint Cup team, or putting thousands of grueling miles on one of our pro touring or street/strip components, we test our products in the same places you do. That’s why we know that every COMP Cams® product will perform to the highest of standards.

Service
Choosing a camshaft and valve train products isn’t like buying an oil filter. Everything in your valve train is part of a complex interlocking system that needs to perform well as a combination. That’s why we provide expert technical assistance to our customers –free of charge. Our staff of expert technical advisors, backed by a vast inventory of precision-manufactured valve train components -will help you to make sure that you have the right parts for your application

Technology
COMP Cams® is driven by technology. We employ the industry's largest and most highly trained engineering staff, and the most sophisticated manufacturing processes and test equipment in the world. And because of our wide scope of applications, technologies developed for the highest levels of NASCAR and NHRA will find their way into our products for your street machine, too. The integration of research, engineering and development at COMP Cams® is what we call our “Systems Technology” and it consistently proves itself by out-performing the competition.
