    ■Features

●Using the latest in belt technology gives the following benefits:

    • Increased durability at high temperatures which can be found in the engine bay of tuned vehicles.
    • Increased performance in cold weather areas and conditions.
    • Lightweight with good friction tolerance properties means that excess tension is not required whilst anti sound properties reduces belt squeal.
    • Aramid was used as the core wire material like the genuine belt to provide high rigidity and enable reliable power transmission.(HKS logo is printed on the belt.)

    ■Performance
☆EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) Rubber was selected because:
    • Better durability and performance in hotter and colder conditions with improved friction tolerance.
    • Much lighter than previous version belts.
    • Shirt fiber mixture in rib rubber improves performance over previous version.

    Fine Tune Timing Belt

This timing belts best suited for use with HKS Slide Cam-Pulley. Optimized belt strength for each engine application makes the Fine Tune Timing Belt ideal for use with HKS Slide Cam-Pulleys for high power/high RPM engine.

Belt strength has been optimized for each engine application and designed to allow stable belt tension even when heat expansion occurs in the engine

Previous timing belt manufacturing techniques have involved with applying pressure from the outside to the teeth. This applies tension to teeth making them weaker. By forming a mould with the correct shape of teeth to begin with, it allows the teeth shape to be formed without compromising belt strength and can decrease the belt skipping at high torque engine.

Teeth rubber is made from H-NBR grade rubber for additional strength.

Balancer belt for 4G63 is also available. By combining both timing belt and balancer belt, the load and stress can be reduced for both engine and chassis

    * Material and/or molding method may be sightly different depending on application.

Necessity of Changing the Balancer Belt

The balancer is designed to reduce engine vibration by creating a vibration in the opposite direction to the engine. When used at high RPM such as on circuits, the vibration will naturally increase which causes more load on the balancer. Moreover, the balancer rotates at double speed of the crankshaft which will cause the belt to stretch at a faster rate compare to the other belts. This stretch will eventually put the balancer out of synchronization with the crankshaft, causing more vibration and then eventually the belt may break up. For this reason, HKS recommends that when the timing belt is changed, the balancer belt should also be changed with a strengthened item to allow the balancer for effective, accurate and reducing stress on the engine and chassis.

    Features

Using the latest in-belt technology gives the following benefits: Increased durability at high temperatures which can be found in the engine bay of tuned vehicles. Increased performance in cold weather and condition. Lightweight and good friction tolerance properties which means that excess tension is not required while anti-sound properties reduces belt squeal.

Back face is blue colored with HKS logo. Blue is used in HKS intake hose which is for coordination in the whole engine bay. Colored nylon fabric used for good anti-color fading properties. HKS logo, product name, and belt length are printed on each belt.

    Performance

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) Rubber was selected because of: Better durability and performance in hotter or colder conditions with improved friction tolerance. Much lighter than previous version of belt. Short fiber mixture in rib rubber improves the performance over previous version.

    Performance Comparison with Stock Belt

    ftvbelt_2.jpg

Button bolts were installed to 24996-AK012 (5PK875) and 24996-AK013 (5PK885) during the test. When using these 2 belts above, a stock V belt may come in contact with a stock alternator adjustment bolt due to an insufficient clearance between them. Using the provided button bolts can prevent abrasion of the V belt.

Recently, a lot of high performance cars feature electronic control of damping force adjustment. HKS assumed it would be best to keep stock electronic control system but add an additional flexibility and offers a height adjustable spring. HKS height adjustable springs kits are a great alternative to conventional springs. With included high adjuster it is possible to select different height suiting your car and enjoy more sporty ride.

In October 1973, two talented and spirited young engineers had a vision; to design and build high performance engines and components that major OE manufacturers could not or would not produce.

Led by Hiroyuki Hasegawa, a former engineer for Yamaha Motor Company, and his partner Mr.Kitagawa, the two secured a capital infusion from Sigma Automotive Co., Ltd. (hence the name “HKS ”), and began tuning gasoline powered engines in a dairy-farming shed at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan.

A year later, Mr. Hasegawa designed and built the first aftermarket turbocharger for passenger cars and has never looked back.

HKS pioneered the Japanese aftermarket performance industry by delivering a host of exciting new products, including the first commercially available electronic turbo timer and boost controller. Other early products included piggy-back fuel computers and sophisticated fuel management tools.  Clearly HKS was Driving Performance trends for Japanese vehicles.

Since its beginning, HKS has been committed to providing well-integrated, reliable, and environmentally sound performance systems. Mr. Hasegawa ’s strong leadership, engineering genius, creativity and willingness to listen to customers are the pillars of the company ’s success. Monitoring consumer reaction and input on issues pertaining to material quality, external appearance, sound quality, and of course, performance, HKS stays in tune with automotive enthusiasts’ needs. Moreover, HKS’ products are designed to be user friendly for easy installation.

Today the automotive aftermarket industry is filled with start-up companies following in HKS’ footsteps.  None however, can match the depth of engineering or manufacturing resources available to the talented, highly motivated and dedicated employees of HKS.

For over a quarter century HKS products have been put to the test in drag racing, road racing, rallying, and top speed trials.  HKS equipped vehicles have captured numerous racing championships and hold claim to a myriad of competition records using many “off the shelf”, race proven HKS components.  As a result, HKS has been synonymous with “performance” in the automotive aftermarket industry for the past 35+years.
