Description

GM part number 12585673 is an Engine Front Cover Seal (also known as a front crankshaft seal or front main seal). It is specifically used on General Motors LS-series V8 engines (Generations III and IV, including LS1, LS2, LS3, LS7, LQ4, and LQ9).

Contains Engine Oil: The seal fits into the front timing cover and wraps around the front crankshaft damper. Its primary job is to prevent engine oil from leaking out of the front of the crankcase. 

Prevents Contamination: It stops dirt, dust, and debris from entering the engine and contaminating the oil. 

Maintenance Replacement: It is frequently replaced during routine engine rebuilds, timing chain replacements, or camshaft upgrades

It is used in a wide variety of GM vehicles equippedwith LS engines, including: 

Chevrolet: Corvette, Camaro, Silverado 1500/2500, Tahoe, and Suburban.

GMC: Sierra, Yukon, and Envoy.

Cadillac: CTS-V and Escalade.

Pontiac: GTO and G8
